  • Integrated eutectic gallium-indium (EGaIn) liquid metal into the shape-memory polymer to build a conductive, actuating fiber composite
  • Characterized energy density and mechanical, shape-memory, and electrical properties using DMA, DSC, SEM, X-ray CT, Instron tensile testing, two-point Keithley probe measurements, and optical microscopy
  • Currently improving the consistency of the fibers’ electrical properties and exploring applications

  • Fabricated spin-coated thin films, co-designed and executed all experimental conditions, and led development of ML models predicting the thickness of bidisperse polystyrene films
  • Led model feature analysis to draw physically meaningful conclusions about how bidispersity affects spin-coating, incorporating relevant polymer physics
  • Second author on the resulting paper in MRS Communications (2026); delivered oral presentations at the Materials Research Society and American Physical Society

  • Identified the active ingredient in a novel thermoreversible hydrogel for endodontic drug delivery using FTIR and Raman spectroscopy; processed and visualized all spectral data
  • Led antibacterial testing through viability assays on Enterococcus faecalis treated with the drug-loaded hydrogel

Independent Research Projects

  • Proposed and ran a funded (~$1,500) project with two classmates encapsulating dexamethasone–hyaluronic acid nanocomplexes in self-assembling Fmoc-FF peptide hydrogels
  • Characterized the hydrogel’s structure, chemistry, and drug release with FTIR, UV-vis, SEM (UConn Bioscience Electron Microscopy Lab), and light and fluorescence microscopy
  • Demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in Farage lymphoma cell viability using Trypan blue staining and MTT assays
  • Independently characterized P. nameko and L. edodes scaffolds grown on two media using SEM (porosity, morphology), FTIR (functional groups), and water vapor absorption (hydrophilicity)
  • Found P. nameko suitable in morphology and chemistry as a skin-cell scaffold; named Finalist at the Connecticut Science and Engineering Fair
  • Designed and tested an acoustic mosquito-repelling prototype to create a more effective, safe, and accessible repellent through backyard experiments in 2023
  • Patent filing from 2020–2021 (ages 13–14); sought collaborators until 2023 (ages 14–16)
  • Filed a patent application (“Devices and Methods for Dispersing Insects,” US 17/226,876)

  • 1 of 3 interns on the 40-member inaugural Explorers Club Teacher Fellows expedition, designated an official Rolex Watch Expedition and an Explorers Club Flag Expedition (flag 114)
  • Collected, imaged, and profiled biological samples (water with microbes, algae, larvae, insects) and catalogued the fluorescent activity of fauna across four geothermal sites to document how extreme temperatures shape biodiversity
  • Produced a legal strategy brief evaluating pathways to secure formal protection of the Boiling River from the Peruvian government, advising the expedition leader on viable conservation mechanisms
