Kiridashi Utility Blade
Summer, 2024
This kiridashi utility knife is entirely forge-to-finish. The metal started as a rectangular block of 80CrV2 high carbon steel, and I shaped it to its current form entirely through repeated heating and hammering cycles. The blade was refined using a grinder, and the twine was added to prove a solid grip for the handle. Similarly, the curvature of the knife was designed to be comfortable for the user.
This kiridashi utility knife is made to be used, so it was heat tempered to harden the blade.
